Series: Studies in the Philosophy and Theory of Law

Science cannot achieve great things without research. Basic research in law takes place primarily within the fields of legal theory and legal philosophy. The "Studien zur Rechtsphilosophie und Rechtstheorie" (Studies in the Philosophy and Theory of Law) present outstanding works that open up new paths for the conceptual penetration and normative elucidation of law. This allows answers to fundamental questions to come into view, which would be hardly visible in everyday business.

The series, published by Nomos-Verlag, assembles writings on analytical philosophy of law. It was founded in 1990 by Ralf Dreier (1931-2018) and Robert Alexy. Martin Borowski has been co-editor of the series since 2014, with Carsten Bäcker joining in 2018.
